Chamber Choir

The Trabuco Hills High School Chamber Ensemble is an award-winning, advanced, auditioned ensemble which regularly performs throughout the Orange County community by performing a diverse, academic, and multicultural selection of music. The choir regularly travels to compete in both local and national choral competitions throughout the country.

Throughout the academic year, the Chamber Singer partake in quarterly concerts with the various ensembles within the THHS Vocal Department. This includes The Festival of Choirs in the October, the Winter Concert in the December, the POPS Concert in March, and the Summer Concert in May/June. The ensemble also regularly participates in the Southern California Choral Festival (SOCC), the Southern California Vocal Association various choral festivals (sight-reading), the Cal State Fullerton High School Invitational, the Azusa Pacific High School Invitational, ensemble exchanges amongst the Orange County community, and various caroling events during the holiday season.

Each year, the ensemble also partakes a the WorldStrides state or national choral festival. This gives our singers the opportunity to sing and compete amongst some of the nation’s top high school choral ensembles and gives students the opportunity to travel and sing in the country’s most beautiful concert halls and colleges. Past tours have included San Diego, San Francisco, and Nashville, O’ahu, and New York.

“It takes more than correct notes and rhythms to make an outstanding performance. Rather, an ensemble who cares for the well-being of every singer as a family member is untouchable in their ability to create good music.”

Auroras

Consisting of the treble singers of Chamber Choir, the Auroras learn and perform an eclectic and challenging selection of choral literature that embraces the female art of choral music. During the academic school year, they will participate in various festivals within Orange County and compete alongside Chamber Choir during their national tours.

Tenors & Basses

Consisting of the baritone singers of Chamber Choir, the Nocturnes learn and perform selections of music ranging from do-wop classics, barbershop, sea chanties, and traditional TTBB choral literature. During the traditional school year, they will participate in various festivals within Orange County and compete alongside Chamber Choir and the Auroras during their national tours.

New Orleans, Louisiana Tour

For the 2025/2026 Spring tour season, our Chamber Choir and Nightingales will be traveling to New Orleans, Louisiana. As both ensembles prepare an incredibly challenging selection of repertoire, the choirs will work with well-accomplished professors of choral music throughout the Southern Californian region and well-renowned composers along their journey. While in New Orleans, the students will explore the heritage and culture of much of what Louisiana has to offer towards our students. They will explore the city, witness spectacular performances, and exchange music with ensembles from throughout the county. Additionally, they will partake in a ghost tour as they explore the infamous French Quarter, indulge in the highly sought-after beignets of Cafe du Monde, listen to phenomenal jazz inside Preservation Hall, take an airboat through the bayou to see the seasonal flowers, vegetation, and local gators, partake in a choral exchange with Loyola University, and perform formally and informally throughout the city. Let’s wish our Mustangs good luck as they embark on this once in a lifetime experience to complete and collaborate with some of the country’s best choral musicians.

From the Presidents

Kendall McLelland

Department President

Hello! I'm Kendall McClelland and I’m honored to be the President of the Vocal Department! I’ve been a part of this program since my freshman year, when I was in concert choir and didn’t know much about music besides my past experience with musical theater. I would’ve never guessed that this program would end up meaning so much to me. Now, I have a whole newfound appreciation for music that I could’ve never discovered without doing choir. Getting to sing songs that acknowledge a multitude of different cultures, genres, and languages is a learning experience that I’ll never forget. Most of all, I appreciate choir because of the fantastic people I’ve met in these past four years. Some of the people that I’m closest to today are people I would’ve never met otherwise, and having the opportunity to get close to them is something I’ll forever be grateful for. I’m beyond honored to be able to lead this group and help guide them through this amazing year. I can’t wait to experience my final year here with this beautiful group that I’m proud to call my family.

Claire Vincent

Department Vice-President I

Being a part of Chamber Choir and the Vocal Department since freshman year has been such a blessing in my high school career. Through this group, I have met some of my closest friends, made lasting memories, and been introduced to music I would never have thought we’d be able to create. I’ve learned the importance of trust and commitment and what it means to contribute to a team. My love for music has grown multitudes from being in this program. My knowledge of classical voice and its fundamentals of vocal technique continue to grow every day next to reading skills. My hope is that any student a part of this program will feel loved and accepted, and that this may be their place of belonging when high school can feel unwelcoming. This department portrays not only qualities of team work and dedication, but also the importance of strong familial bonds. I am extremely excited to spend my last year with these amazing people creating music we love together. I can’t wait to see what this year brings!

Braden Berg

Department Vice-President II

Throughout my high school experience, the Vocal Department has been my support system, safe haven, and force constantly pushing me to be a better individual. This program is so incredibly special not only because of the music we create, but the family we build. The Vocal Program is the one place on campus where people from all backgrounds and grade levels come together to make music that is advanced yet deeply personal. We succeed not because we have all taken vocal lessons since we were five, but rather because we show up each day as a team to be there for one another. It is in the small moments such as the rehearsal before a performance or the last chord of “The Road Home” where I have learned the true value of community. Music is more than correct notes, it is about connecting with the most vulnerable parts of yourself to tell a story. It is about listening to those around you and trusting that what we are creating is bigger than what any individual can do alone. As I look forward to this coming year, I am filled with excitement for the memories we will create, the challenges we will overcome, and the music we will share.
